Day 1 : Fly to Cape Town
Depart from Ireland for an overnight flight to Cape Town
Day 2 : Explore Cape Town
Experience Cape Town's rich history as you pass iconic landmarks like Parliament Buildings, City Hall, the Slave Lodge, and the Castle of Good Hope. Visit Grand Parade square, stroll through Company Gardens, and explore the vibrant Bo-Kaap with its colorful homes. Witness a diamond cutter at work and learn about South Africa's diamond and gold history. Drive past the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town Stadium, and scenic beaches before reaching Table Mountain. Admire the views from the lower cable station or opt to summit for an unforgettable panorama before returning to your hotel.
Day 3 : The Walk to Freedom
Visit the District Six Museum and Langa Township, the oldest apartheid housing area in the Cape, exploring local markets and community projects. See both informal housing and new developments underway. For a powerful experience, extend your tour to visit Robben Island in the afternoon, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so many years—a poignant reminder of South Africa's journey from its painful past to a brighter future.
Day 4 : Cape Town – Hermanus
Meet your tour guide and fellow travellers for the remainder or the trip and set out on a stunning coastal drive to the Harold Porter Botanical Garden with its delicate coastal Fynbos. En route, you will seek out the small breeding colony of African Penguins at Stony Point before arriving in the picturesque coastal town of Hermanus.
Day 5 : Hermanus – Oudtshoorn
This morning you will explore the unique cliff paths of Hermanus and gasp at the outstanding views of Walker Bay. During the months of July – November, the possibility of whale sightings could add further enhancement to our explorations. You will depart late morning stopping for a late lunch (for own account) in the pretty village of Barrydale on the scenic “Route 62”, then onward to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world”, for a guided tour at an ostrich farm.
Day 6 : Oudtshoorn – Knysna
Today you will have the opportunity to marvel at the impressive Cango Caves, filled with impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. Thereafter enjoy a wine tasting at a boutique wine estate, situated at the foothills of the majestic Swartberg Mountains. You will then travel via the panoramic Outeniqua Pass to Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa.
Day 7 : Knysna
Explore the natural beauty of the Garden Route with a journey into the Knysna Forests, once home to the elusive Knysna elephants. Discover the history of the woodcutters, hunted elephants, and gold discoveries. Visit the Dalene Matthee Big Tree Memorial, dedicated to the author who celebrated this forest in her writings. Enjoy a traditional lunch en route. Optionally, visit Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary or Birds of Eden Sanctuary (own account), both MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences supporting endangered species and advancing UN Global Goal 15: Life on Land. End the day with spectacular views of the Knysna Heads (weather permitting). Overnight in Knysna.

- MONKEYLAND PRIMATE SANCTUARY
There is an option to visit Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, where you will be able to see a variety of primates, roaming free in the forest. This award-winning sanctuary is well known for its efforts to rehabilitate and free previously caged primates.
- BIRDS OF EDEN SANCTUARY
There is an option to visit the Birds of Eden Sanctuary, the biggest single free flight aviary in the world. The sanctuary was developed to create a safe environment in which to release a large collection of free-flight African birds.
DAY 8 : Knysna – Tsitsikamma
You depart Knysna after breakfast and travel to Plettenberg Bay for an ocean safari (weather permitting). During the summer months we may encounter bottlenose and common dolphins as well as seals in their natural environment. During the winter months we may see southern right and humpback whales. For those brave souls amongst us, this afternoon you can attempt the world’s highest bungee jump at Bloukrans Bridge (for own account and weather permitting). You arrive late afternoon at the picturesque village of Storms River.
DAY 9 : Tsitsikamma – Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)
This morning you will immerse yourself in the splendour and tranquillity of the Tsitsikamma National Park and head to the Storms River Mouth for unrivalled views of the Indian Ocean (weather permitting). You continue your journey to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) where you'll make your way to the airport and start your journey home.
Day 10 : Arrive in Ireland
Arrive back home and settle back into real life.
